Artist's Description

The tiny fishing village of Bay St. Lawrence is at the northern tip of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Facing the meeting place of the open Atlantic ocean and the expanse of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the village has a small but sheltered harbour with a narrow entrance to the open sea. Fishing boats are well protected from fierce gales that come from any direction depending on the time of year. The background hills are the northern edge of Cape Breton Highlands National Park, with the hardwoods starting to turn into their autumn colours. A little early yet, as this was September 2006, but in 2 or 3 weeks the hills will be a blaze of reds, oranges, yellows and all shades in between.
Taken with a Sony DSCF828 camera.
