Artist's Description

The Madawaska River in the province of Ontario, Canada, is 230 kilometres long. It begins at Source Lake in Algonquin Park, and eventually joins the Ottawa River at Arnprior. In that stretch, the Madawaska River drops 224 metres, which gave it the dangerous reputation it had in the past. Even today it is one of the best white-water rivers in Eastern Ontario, though it has been considerably changed by hydro-electric development. Some rapids have been tamed and new bodies created, such as Cameron Lake during the 1960’s.
This photo was taken a few miles south of the town of Arnprior in late August, 2006. Sony DSCF828 camera.
