Artist's Description

Walamurra Creek in the rainforest section of Royal National Park. This shot is taken from the same position as Ophelia and Swan Maiden but facing the opposite direction.

This is a long, almost perfectly straight section of the creek which is rare in a rainforest. And we haven’t had decent rain here for months so it was such a treat to go there today and see the water flowing so freely after the last few day’s rain. The variety of Royal never ceases to amaze me – this creek flows through some of the most beautiful rainforest with huge moss-covered trees and ferns and epiphytes while a kilometer to the east a huge sea swell smashes against rugged sandstone cliffs topped with coastal heath. Don’t know anywhere else where you get such an amazing range of landscapes in such a small area.
