Facebook Tip

I notice that when you have RB automatically post to your FB wall you get the square image which cut’s off too much. So, from now on I’m going to do it manually. That way you get a better looking thumbnail pic. Just copy you the URL of the public view of your post and post the LINK to you FB wall.

Happy Socializing…lol….G>

Guys.. I just looked at my calendars. Make sure you check them especially after you delete images. They will no longer be part of your calender. You must edit them to replace deleted images.I found a lot in mine that I forgot to fix. You don’t want people trying to buy something when the right images are not there. What RB does is place the first image in your portfolio in it’s place.

Replacing Images

Do you folks have trouble replacing images? I click on the replace image button andy I get that 404 error page and it doesn’t let me do it. I don’t want to loose my history when I replace it. No answer from RB yet on this issue.

Guess I didn’t realize that RB is now charging .10 cents to put each card into a cellophane protector. Of course it’s optional.

Anyhow if you didn’t know, now you do.

Calendar Offer

Ok Here’s a deal for you. I will make a calendar for you from my images. You pick the images you would like included and I’ll build it for you. Offer valid until 2011.

You Tube

Can someone tell me how you show the You Tube picture on your post? I know how to show the link, but I’ve seen people show the actual You Tube picture.

Your Watch List

How do you treat your watch list? I mean after all, people took the trouble to find you in the vast array of art on RB, commented on your work, and added you to their list, right? Even more so what about the people you have in your list? Do you take the time to look at some of their work and give credit where credit is due?…

Alot of RB is social connections with others. Our watch lists are the people we like and the people who like us. So one thing I started doing is to go look at more stuff of the folks I’m watching because I like their work. That’s why I added them in the first place. It’s easy just click on your Watch List and start browsing. Oh and don’t forget to fav the ones you like the best and leave the artist a comment. That’s an important step and helps encourage all of us to mo

Red Bubble Changes

We’ve all been going though the changes. Lot of people have had their say, one way or the other. Bottom line is, lest we forget RB membership is free, to those who play by the rules. So if you don’t like the way the site looks, or works, nobody is holding a gun to your head.

The site is for our enjoyment given to us by a talented group of individuals. Nobody’s perfect and it may not work the way “You” like it. It is what it is and it’s free to continue to enjoy the rewards. So, let’s move on. I’m sure it won’t be the last time they make major changes.

Art Show

Some of you may remember when I asked you to pick from my images for an Art Show a couple of months ago. Well, one of the images you selected won third place in the photography category. Let’s Fly Away Together

thx for your help. It’s always nice to win an award and have your work appreciated like that.

I used to be able to place a tag in my images when they were featured in a group. Now when I put “featured” as a tag and save it the tag does not appear. Don’t know how long this has been going on. I looked back a couple months and my tag does not show. Anybody know why this is? How do you see your featured art?

Banner Image feed on top

Anybody know why the image banners at the top in the new look go back to the beginning after you view an image and go back you have to scroll forward to find where you left off if you want to view more images. Makes it more time consuming to view new work, and discourages viewing.

Banner Image feed on top

One thing I don’t like is after you open an image from the banner image feed at the top and go back it doesn’t leave the feed where you are. It goes back to the beginning. So after you look at a few, you constantly have to fast forward to find where you left off. To me that discourages people from looking past the first page. Before you could just go back and click on Older to see previous entries.

Typing Problem

anybody having this happen…I’m having trouble with the latest changes. I use Firefox and when I type a comment that goes more than one line it does not truncate properly. Seems like this should have been tested a little better…..

Finding Your Niche

As a photographer, I’ve only been doing this professionally for about 3 years and I know folks who have been doing it for 20-30 years. I’ve always had a camera, though, and have taken many photos over the years. So, I still feel like an amateur. Of course DSLR cameras make a big difference, but you still have to have an eye for getting the shot and being in the right place at the right time. You have to get out there and do it.
As a photographer I believe I have found my niche. I’ve dabbled in many different areas in the past three years from digital abstracts to straight photography. At this point, however I believe the area where I have the most talent is with landscape and nature photography and it is the area that attracts me the most. So, I plan to put my resources and efforts into pr…

A Word To The Wise

Got an email from a good friend of mine the other day and without think I opened the link and Norton gave me a severe warning not to open. Fortunately I didn’t. It turned out that my friend’s old Yahoo account was hacked and the link was designed to reek havoc on computers. After being in the computer industry for 40 years you think I’d know better, but in my haste I tried to open it.

The lessons: Don’t open links unless you know what they are; Make sure you have stellar, up-to-date security software running at all times; Don’t open something your security software says not to.

My friend had no idea this was going on and when I mentioned it she immediately sent a note to all recipients informing them of the problem.

A word to the wise.

Cards Only

If you want to view and purchase greeting cards from me I have a new ID set up just for that purpose.

I feel kind of lonely over there so if you can go there an add me to your watch list and I’d really appreciate it.

I’ve update the images in all my calendars and since they do not re-post, I wanted to give you a heads up.If you’d like to look go HERE

Solo Exhibit

Rays Of Hope
by George Lenz

Join me at the Juried Invitational Exhibition…

I am very excited to have my art selected, from over 46000 works of art, to exhibit in SoJie 7. SoJie 7 takes its name from the Solo Exhibition group’s Juried Invitational Exhibition. This month is only the 7th one, ever, and 73 other artists, besides myself, are represented.

Winners of the invitational will be announced on September 29th, when a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded in three categories: digital art, photography, and traditional art.

Rays of Hope

I am so humbled by all your comments on my favorite image Rays of Hope

It has been featured many times, won and placed in challenges and, well just has been given a lot of attention by you. I know time is precious, so real quick, I’ve listed what you said about this image below if you care to read it. Thank you so much. This has given me a lot of encouragement, and Hope…:-)

Card Order

I can’t believe how fast my card order was processed. I ordered 16 cards on 9/8 and received them today, 9/11! I see they come from Santa Cruz California now.

Just went through all my posts and here’s the list of my Most Popular based on 30 favs or more.

thx for all your support….now a days it seems harder and harder to get favs…but I’m content with what you like.

Red Bubble Button

It occurred to me that RB does not have it’s very own button (at least I’m not aware of it). Everybody has one Facebook, Twitter, MySpace well the list goes on. So maybe I’m the first to come up with a cool button for RB. If not, here’s my offering.

A Daughter's Memory

Had to share this. These are the moments we live for as artists.…

My friend called me the other day and said he had these two old photos of his daughter and did I know anyone who could fix them. Of course I offered to do it for him. The photos were very small and damaged and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. You can see the results here

That’s not all I wanted to share. My friend is in his 70s and these pictures are all he has of the memory of his daughter. You see she died shortly after these pictures were taken at age 4. Her and some other kids were chasing after a frog and they came across this well and she was accidentally bumped into the well by one of the other kids. She drowned in 18 feet of water. It took my friend many years to grieve over the event. He was at work when he found

Christmas Cards

Well you probably noticed that I uploaded a batch of Christmas cards. It may be early, but as you’ve probably noticed, RB is offering 20% and 30% discounts on cards. So I thought I’d get an early jump on it.

It’s been a long time, but someone was kind enough to purchase my Flamingo piece in a framed print. They must be shy because I have no idea who it was. Thank you whoever you are.

New Website

Hi All.. been busy building my new website…I’ve moved away from SmugMug and went with GoDaddy because I was looking for a more professional look….and I think I accomplished that….let me know what you think…

Here’s a deal for you… go to my website, sign the guest book and you get a 20% discount on your first purchase… this offer will expire on Monday 8/9 so check it out now….

If you’d like to learn more about receiving a free image for you to make a print of let me know. All you have to do is display it proudly and let your family and friends know where you got it and send them to my site to introduce themselves. For that I’ll also give you a standing 20% referral discount on a purchase.

This may be a little “spammy” for RB, but since I have a a decent following here, I couldn’t resist. So

Your Input Requested

I am entering a local art contest and I’d like your input from this list of selections that you think would be my best choice.

Please select your three top choices, and thank you in advance for taking the time.

Flower Collage

These three flower images make a nice collage:

…which is the reason I made them… not available as cards because of the square design which is in right now according to my sources….I plan to frame these and sell as a set….

Picasa Help

I have a friend who uses Picasa and has Photoshop CS5 installed… when she uses Open With i Picasa it does not list Photoshop as an option…how do you get CS5 as an open option?

I notice a lot of my earlier postings do not fit the new card sizes. I really don’t want to change all these because, well it’s time consuming, and the 2×3 ratio does not fit my print sizes like 8×10.

This was not a problem when I originally uploaded images 3500×2744. Now I make them 4000×2667, which doesn’t always look good either and sometimes causes me to have to do extra work to get them cropped right.

Does anybody share this frustration, or am I the only one?

Computer Crash - Almost

Had a crash of sorts last night on my Vista system. Although I have fairly current back ups, I was not relishing the thought of restoring everything. I ran the HP diagnostics and it said my hard drive had a problem. When I tried to restart it went into windows starup failed recovery mode and said my registry was corrupted. None of these are good things.…

Next, I tried HP systems recovery utility and was able to recover back to my last good registry backup which was yesterday morning. Disaster diverted for now. As a precaution I am backing again, including my browser and mail program. If you did not know Mozilla has a backup program called MozBackup that you can download. It’s very simple and it allows you to restore. So, after a crash you may want to restore your mail and browser. I use th

Just a quick note to let you all know I’ll be out starting tomorrow until next Tuesday. Going to California for a family visit.

Stumble Upon

I’ve been checking out and noticed that sometimes a Red Bubble image shows up. Does anybody know how do you get people to Stumble Upon your art when they are using that site?

Virtual Art Walk

I created this new Facebook Group called Virtual Art Walk. It’s a new idea I had to have a place where you can advertise your art and send people there to become potential clients. If you think it’s a good idea join the group and tell other artists and make this become popular and worth while.

Virtual Art Walk

Does anybody know how to specify the user name you want RB to link to for FB? It seems to take the default of your email, and I want to use my business FB account.

Meet Alex

Alex is my grand daughter. She just joined RB, so will you please give her a warm RB welcome, and check her art.

I don’t get it sometimes. I had three small sales on here in Feb. and nothing since. I’ve posted some of my best work since then and not one sale. It’s frustrating to say the least, so I’m sharing my feelings.

thx for listening.

I’ve had ten features in the past week so I’ll show them to you here..thx for the support.

Leaving Red Bubble - NOT!

Well, I thought about it for a week now, and I really don’t see the point in not posting new work for your enjoyment. Besides, I miss you guys…lol…

I have created a number of new images and posted them on my website. So, I’ll be posting them here, as well. I’ve been to the Phoenix Zoo and have some great new shots.

If you have the time to comment, I’d appreciate that. I’ll do my best to participate as much as possible.

See you soon…. :—))

Greeting Cards - Update

As some of you know I purchased 16 of the new greeting cards so I wanted to give you an update.

I put the 16 cards out on my table display and got rave reviews, and sold 6 cards, which is pretty good for me! In addition, I got very good comments on the quality and it helped draw customers to my booth, thus generating more sales. I’ll be buying lots more cards here because when I further compare price to quality RB wins!

Leaving Red Bubble?

Been considering this for sometime. Some of us don’t have a lot of time to spend viewing and commenting, including myself. When you don’t comment, your traffic goes down. I suppose this makes sense, you get what you give. However, this leads me to believe the views and comments you receive are based on what you give, not necessarily the quality of your art. I have purposely backed off commenting a lot, just to prove that point.…

One of the main reasons to be here, in my mind, is to get genuine feedback on what you submit. Lacking that makes me wonder what’s the point. I’ve been here since August 2007. For the first couple years I was more active, so there was more traffic. Sales has always been about the same. I believe my work has improved over the past year with experience, so it seems l

Photoshop Help

Has anyone used the Liquify tool? When I use it I don’t see a preview of what I’m doing, and I don’t see a preview option. I’m using CS3 on a Windows system.

Greeting Cards - More

This is a P.S. to my previous journal. So, the cards were $33.05 with shipping for 16 cards and I had to buy the bags, 100 bags for $15.00, with shipping. That’s about $3.00 per card. I can get them on Zazzle for about $2.84, and they are much batter quality and they are already bagged and ready to go.

So, I’d have to say RB is no bargain on greeting cards, even with their new format, and pricing.

I am not very pleased with the results.

New Greeting Cards

Just received my first batch of the, so called, new greeting cards and was surprised to find no poly bags like they used to have before. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time, so that’s why I’m posting it here in case you may not know.

Greeting Cards

Just bought a bunch of my images on cards. This is a great price when you buy 16 cards at the 40% discount it comes out to $2.06 per card. That’s a huge savings and cheaper than Zazzle.

So, check it out, and the post cards are great too. Nice to be able to pass these discounts onto our customers.

Home Page

Don’t really like the new home page slide show. I didn’t even realize it was a slide show the first time I saw it. One image showed up and I moved on to My Bubble. Thought there was something wrong with the site. This is a bad idea in my opinion. People are not going to wait for a slide show when they go to the home page, and unless you let it run through, artists woud not even know if they made the home page. I for one like the old way.

Prices Slashed!

To help you select from my portfolio of fine art, I have slashed my prices by 40%. So, 8 × 10 prints that used to be $10.00 are now $6.04 plus shipping.

So, take another look if you’ve visited before. There are a lot of new images to chose from and it’s easy to just purchase directly from my site and have the prints sent directly to you. The quality of these prints is outstanding and I’m sure you’ll be happy with the results.

So, go now, visit Lenz Photo Shop

Does anybody know how you convert a Word doc to HTML format so you post into a web page?

Home Page Showing

How exciting. I made the RB Home Page with my entry Candy Cane Hot Rod

This is only the second time this has happened to me, that I know of, of RB. It made my day. With thousands of talented artists and who knows how many images, this truly an honor and good exposure.

thx for the support.

Tuscany Photo Needed

Hey everyone… I need your help… I have a customer that wants a portrait orientation photograph of a Tuscany courtyard scene. She is looking for some maroons in it as well and no people in the scene. She would like to see the image before purchasing, so you’d probably have to send me a digital sample image that I could print for them, if they like what they see online, for them to decide. I’m not interested in making any money on the deal, just trying to help a friend find a piece of art. I have nothing in my portfolio that can meet her needs.

So, if you have, of know someone who has, an image like that let me know.

Be Careful!

As some of you know, I’m selling my Canon XTI. I put it on Craigslist, Ebay and Amazon…..only bites are from people from Nigera who want me to send the camera and pay me later. Like I’m going to do that. I even got a fraudulent email from Amazon that said it was SOLD! It looked ligit, logo and everything! I called AMazon and it was NOT ligit. They do not ship international. Can you imagine how evil these people are to prey on folks? Anyhow I don’t send it to someone I don’t know unless the money is actually in my Paypal account.

So, be aware of these scams, folks.

Art Explosion

Guys, this is a great way to start the New Year. A writer has selected two of my art pieces for the front and back cover of her new book. We collaborated on the art, as I inserted an angel drawing she did by hand (and she’s not an artist). The book is a project she is doing for Trinity Broadcasting Network. The book is titled Jesus Loves All The Children Of The World. She selected two of my original images, and they have been accepted by TBN to be used for the book.…

Spinning Julia
Swan In A Bubble (without the swan). The angel drawing will be replace the swan and the angel will also be put on the front cover.

This will be significant recognition and exposure for me and hope will lead to even more. I will show you all the results once the book comes out. So, stay tuned.

Anyhow just had to s
