Artist's Description

A Williamette geared locomotive pushing a load of logs on a temporary trestle somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. These engines were designed for difficult-to-navigate logging areas that required excellent traction and a tight turning radius, and were an improved variant of the Shay locomotive.
Based on a static display at the Rail Motel in Dunsmuir, CA. Oil on canvas.
