I have come to use a camera to capture the beauty around me be that to immortalize a moment; a glance and even or a place i visited.
The inspiration for photography came from my dad; who in his younger days used to capture images of family and friends. Indeed the very 1st camera I had was a Russian film camera; which required winding the film for every shot and had no adjustable 300mm and wide lens; it had basic settings and you had to be able to capture “that shot” in one take. My first pictures date back to secondary school at the age of about 14.
I vouched never to use a digital camera (in the days when the 1st digital cameras came on to the market) on the basis that the images were not realistic but looked “digitized”. I haven’t been able to keep to that promise as the kit i now have and the advances made in the technology have enabled me to be more creative than ever.
My photography is a mixture of various themes and subjects, as well as a mixture of color and black and white imagery. I have a flair for the “candid moments” capturing that “glance”; “that unique moment when no-one is looking”; but then again i am also able to turn a “grim rainy day/urban shot” in a thing of beauty.
I love to travel and discover new places and cultures; be part of the “extra ordinary” or the “unique” but also capturing the “mundane; the everyday life”.
Some of my work has been used in virtual tour guides; brochures advertising activities for organizations; on music band sites or in photography albums to “capture that special moment”.
