Brave New World

A foggy day
With the ocean to one side
Sand to the other
And a fence-line snaking between
The flattened sand and rising dunes

Evocatively presented
The water washes from the dunes
Through the fence
To the sand
And finally to the ocean beyond

Water flows back and forth
Attempting to scrub all the sadness
From the rippling sands

Heartache and sorrows
Felt by so many
Now being erased, removed, obliterated
With each ebb and flow

Look once more through the glassy fog
As the skies clear and
The sun struggles through
The once darkened heavens

No more tears
Sorrow
Despair
Only hope and expectations
The promise of a happy future
As a brave new world is now revealed

Brave New World
