The Old Man

Young and vibrant
He frolics in the sun’s warm yellows
An aura enveloping his every eager whim

Years continue adding to his age
Inquisitive now…
No longer playful…
Eager to learn
Of life’s offerings

Now a man
His journey continues
Finding his love, sharing his dreams
Romance, then children, he sits back and beams

Years continue to pass on by
Withering hands twisting and drying,
Memories of what once was
Now gone, as so many before him…

Twilight has come,
The man is no more,
His light has gone out
Death at his door

The Old Man
