Artist's Description

Taken with Canon EOS40D & 50mm acro Lense

This is the grave of a young girl who it appears was slandered in some way and took her own life back in 1808. Taken at West Melton Church, Rotherham, South Yorkshire

The inscription reads as follows;

JANE the beloved daughter of THOMAS and ANN PRICE who died May 18th 1808 aged 17 years.

SHE COULD NOT LIVE TO BEAR FALSE BLAME
LET HIM WHO CAUSED IT BEAR THE PAIN
FEELING THAT HIS SLAND ROUS BREATH
CAUSED INNOCENT AN UNTIMELY DEATH
SHE FELL LIKE A FLOWER IN THE NIP OF BUD
SHE TOOK THE REPOSE OF THE GENTLE AND GOOD
THE LOVE SHE BORE SHALL DWELL IN EACH BREAST
TILL WE MEAT HER AGAIN IN THE REALMS OF THE BLEST.
