Artist's Description

House finches (Carpodacus mexicanus) have a taste for flower nectar. The male in the image has plucked a cherry blossom and will crush it in its beak to squeeze out the nectar. These birds spend much time among the clouds of cherry tree blooms, and chomp through the pink flowers as if they were candy.
