American Idol

The young men and young ladies who think they can sing,
Wait for the day to come.
They stand in a line for hours at a time,
It’s easy when your young!
Each has a dream of what will be,
Each hopes for fortune and fame;
They dream of how wonderful it would be,
If everyone knew their name.
The judges have the tedious task,
Of knowing good from bad;
And so it is, when it’s all done,
Some go home very sad!
After the best have sung and stayed,
America gets to vote.
We watch t v and get to pick,
Who sings the sweetest notes.
As weeks go by we eliminate.
Until just ten remain,
And we grow to idolize these ten;
We feel their glory, we feel their pain.
The anticipation and the tension,
The feelings we have grow deep;
When one of them goes home,
The others often weep!
And then the final two are left,
The glorious evening comes!
The two will sing with feelings, and hope,
That there the singer who won!
It’s been a long and tedious task,
But for one, it’s worth it all;
Our American idol has been found,
Take a bow,and have a ball!,
