This is a painting of old working boats moored on the Georges River in Sydney, Australia.
It is painted in watercolour on paper.
I love old working boats. These are full of character and age. They belonged to the fishing boats that plied Botany Bay before fishing was banned there due to depleted stocks. I used to go down to the moorings both first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening when you get completely different light on the boats.
And in the evening you were rewarded by the sound of the fishermen calling to each other as they prepared for the night’s fishing.
Now they are gone and I do miss them. Fortunately I have many photos to remind me of those days.
