"No Star For Me"

There’s no star for me on life’s walk of fame,
with only a few who’ll ever know my name.
Determined to do the very best I could,
though all in my hands a simple writing book.

The stuff I write, things my eyes have seen,
as I traveled paths, others chose for me.
From my mothers womb, at a tender age,
led by the dreams, that my parents had made.

In the early days of lifes youthful years,
married a man and brought children to bear.
Overwhelmed by the care of a new family,
lost me again, so their dreams came to be.

So there’s no star for me on life’s walk of fame,
and only a few will ever know my name.
I determined to do the very best I could,
though all in my hand a simple writing book.

With the kids all grown, and the choices all mine,
I couldn’t find me and there never was time.
So days moved quickly, as the dreams faded by,
the decisions of youth bringing tears to the eye.

Now I walk in winter, and strengths fading away,
and relationships lost, giving length to my days.
The dreams I’d planned go the way of the dust,
and there isn’t much time to be leanin on luck.

So there’s no star for me on life’s walk of fame,
and only a few who’ll ever know my name.
I determined to do the very best I could,
though all in my hand a simple writing book!
