I was tired of San Francisco crowds and heavy traffic jams, so I escaped to Old Sacramento to see their fireworks shows – one at 9pm for the families and kids and a midnight show for the others…. It was crowded but it was nothing when compared to the large-scale sardine-land in SF, and even the traffic wasn’t bad. I was shocked that I was on the 7th floor of a (very) high-rise parking garage and was out of that garage and on city streets within minutes instead of hours if I were in SF! Sacramento’s Tower Bridge is seen here on the right and the fireworks launched from across the Sacramento River but next to the bridge. The bridge lights were extinguished just minutes before the fireworks began and lit up the night sky. For me 2012 went so quickly and I am hoping 2013 does the same! My Canon EOS 7D with a EFS 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS lens recorded the event
