David Kilpatrick

Atherton, Australia

Works in poster paint, blocks of colour outlined in black. Not represented in art galleries throughout the world.

I live in Atherton, a country town 100 km inland from Cairns in Far North Queensland, Australia. My wife was born and raised here. We have two cats one of whom you can see in my avatar picture. His name is Piglet with a defining characteristic of a very loud miaow, used all too frequently. The other is Hoover, a stray who adopted us a little while back, he’s much quieter but would be offended if you suggested he was becoming domesticated.

I’ve taken to art late in life as a hobby now that I have more time on my hands and desiring a “creative outlet”. The defining characteristic of my painting is blocks of colour with black outlines. I’ve always liked that style and inspirations include Tin-tin comics by Herge, some of John Brack’s earlier paintings, and Howard Arkley’s airbrushed suburban houses.

I’ve lots of ideas to pursue, when I’m not working in the garden. I hope you’ll find my paintings interesting and welcome feedback.
