1937 Chevrolet Wrecker Truck
Photographed at the American Truck Historical Society Antique Truck Show in West Springfield Massachusetts
1937 Chevrolet cars have been a favorite of the hot rod and the car collector community for decades. A wrecker truck however, is a mighty rare sight. It took about twelve hour of retouching and painting to do justice to this really special truck. I always like to shoot from the shaded side of the vehicle so i get those white highlights on the hood and roof. This view also creates nicer reflections in the paint, although most of the time that includes things you don’t want to see. So, a lot of painting and retouching are required.
I wanted to bring in a little color so I added the old Phillips 66 logo and converted the black wheels to orange. The background is actually the inside of the Massachucetts Museum of Contemporary Art in Adams Massachucetts. This very cool museum is housed in an old factory that made electric transformers and products.
