This is a stretch of land near Bloomfield CA, also known as Malakoff Diggins. This was the site of what was called Hydraulic Mining where they used huge water canons at 5000-7000 gallons per minute to wash total mountains away for gold. Lucky for us, it was outlawed in the late 1800s.

Beautiful Image!!
Thank you very much!
Great shot. Used to go camping not far from there in Camptonville on the way to Downieville. It is such beautiful part of gold country and I miss nature up there so much. Used to spend hours and hours panning for gold on the middle fork of the Yuba River. The older I’ve gotten I just don’t like the camping on the ground part as much. And I traded in my gas guzzler SUV for a gas sipping small car no way to fit all the equipment in the car now.
It is a beautiful place that’s for sure. I did the same to my gas guzzler, 8mpg for my Altima @ 34mpg so now I can go more places without it hitting my pocket so bad. Thanks for the comment!
Such a refreshing image!!!! makes me want to breathe deep, go grab my most comfy shoes and head on outside!!!!!
I know, had there been a parking spot there, my daughter and I both would have gotten out and explored this little spot. As it were, I was parked in the middle of the road lol. Thank you LoisBryan!
