Friend or Foe?

The foot of the stairs he stands.
You’d swear he’s debonaire.
He breaks your gaze with a smile.

The restaurant remembers his name.
He seats you.
You remind him that he’s your friend, no more.

Oh to implore.
If only he was more?

The top of your foot tenses.
You feel his foot on yours.
Inviting, yet surprising, you decide to remain coy.

A dance is in order, you annouce
He agrees with you.
You remind him that he’s your friend, no more.

Oh to implore.
If only he was more?

The floor fills with you two.
The hands seem organic, and so does the sway.
The tingles run through, but composure remains.

He twirls and dips you.
You smile in contempt.
You remind him that he’s your friend, no more.

He asks who you are trying to prove that to,
Kisses you,
And you can’t help but kiss back.

Oh to implore,
He was all the more.
