This painting was inspired by a workshop I attended on the subject of Mary Magdalene. It was created on satin silk using gold gutta and French silk dyes. Although you can’t clearly see it on this photo, I have used both gold and silver gutta as resist.
It’s funny how the sacred geometry works to support you. When I was preparing to paint this mandala, I drew several random concentric circles on the fabric to get started. I decided to superimpose a six-pointed start on top. Lo and behold, the points where the two equilateral triangles intersected all rested on one of the circles. Perfect. I love that. :-)
