my only sister

My childhood friend
my teenage enemy
my adult confidante

you used to struggle against my shadow
always smaller, always catching up
but age has long since dealt with that
you stand long in the light
your shadow keeps me cool now, I am happy here

1,2,3, bomb, splash sink cool
only 8 out of 10

You stand here while I dance around you
then I’ll lift you up to the sky
oops.. I dropped you, over and over again
You’d think I’d learn to stop trying
But I thought that was my job
only now I understand
we lift each other, take it in turns, then nobody falls

black and white, day and night
but really grey and dusk
face to face or holding hands
closer than either of us will admit
although we’re so far away

Hey Jude….
Don’t carry the world upon your shoulders
out of tune in tune
The dark has been so dark
but the light is getting lighter

Forty times over in one weekend
only so much zigazig ha!
But time is moving on
and our paths are finally even
after years of travelling through tunnels at different times
now are tracks run evenly

I never say it and I should
I’m proud of you
I appreciate you
I look up to you
I love you

My childhood friend
My teenage enemy

Artist's Description

Sometimes it’s hard to find the words at the right occasion, but with my sister’s birthday around the corner, I know I haven’t paused enough to tell her how much she means to me.
