:: About me ::
I am a legally blind photographer and mixed media artist. I am also, among many things, a: not-so-perfect wife and mother, gardening junkie, collector of old things, blogger, cook, baker, scribbler, restless wanderer and enthusiastic hiker.

As a child growing up on the island of Borneo, I developed a lifelong passion and respect for the environment. When I was first diagnosed with ocular histoplasmosis syndrome (OHS) in 1991, I sought peace and strength through countless hours of solitary walking in parkland, by the seashore and working in the garden. Through significant central vision loss, and most recently in early 2016, cancer diagnosis and treatment, I continue to find much comfort and solace in nature.

:: About my collection ::
Growing up, I always had a passion for reading old books, particularly ones that were richly decorated with amazingly complex illustrations. However, I only got hooked on collecting vintage ephemera and old paper when I bought my first set of Victorian trade cards from a dealer in the Niagara Falls area in 2002. Since then, I have been obsessively acquiring more antique paper and books from eBay sellers all around the world as well as from antique dealers in Cleveland, Ohio and Ontario, Canada.

I mostly collect profusely illustrated magazines from the late 19th and early 20th centuries in addition to vintage postcards and Victorian trade or advertising cards. I am slowly working my way through digitizing the over 250,000 images (an ever-expanding number) I currently own, a feat I might not realistically achieve in my lifetime. :) Thank you for coming along with me on my crazy bibliophile joey and helping me to keep the light shining on these drawings from days long past.
