Rain

As I slide between the warm sheets, water
Beads on the window pane,
Along the blistered paint,
Beckoning me to join it.

To taste the crystal taste;
To feel the mellow rhythm of the gently
rapping rain.
It’s calling, calling,
“You need us, you want us.”

I fall into the void of sleep,
Smile puckering my cheek,
Dreaming dreams of the
Cold, warming rain.

Rain

Artist's Description

My first ever go at a ‘lyrical’ poem … i.e. there is supposed to be a pattern of the first letter on each line, so here I used ‘a’ and ‘b’. The rhythm of the words though meant I abandoned the pattern to express the emotion.
