Free Novel 'writing' software ... yWriter

Well, if you’re on a PC and run Windows, the perfect freeware novel ‘writing’ software (i.e. it helps organise your work, not actually write the novel for you) is yWriter. Simon Hay is an Australian writer who has developed this program to help him organise his work as he goes. It was recommended to me, but unfortunately, as I’m on a Mac – and he hasn’t written any native versions of the program for Mac – I can’t run it.

He suggests using Wine, which allows you to run Windows programs on a Mac, but Wine isn’t available for Mac OS X yet as Apple’s program X11 is flawed (they explain it better on the Wine FAQ page ); but, if you’re running Linux then it looks good.

So, I’ll have to keep checking back …
