The Bonsai

I threw you away today
You died.
I watered you and nourished you . . . yet still you gave in

You looked so pathetic, so ancient, weak
Did I not give you enough?
I shall miss you, you left me a few weeks ago
. . . . but today I finally plucked up the courage to actually bury you . . . . and with it I buried your memory

Death . . . so far, yet inevitably near

For me, you are a figure of antiquity
. . . . . the epitome of nostalgia and I bid you a noble farewell for there was an air of solitude in your presence
I shall remain forever grateful for the affinity of our existence.
