This beautiful little corner of N Ireland, the county of my birth, has for the past three days been at the centre of the world’s media, as a result of being the place chosen to host the G8 summit. The great and the good including President Obama and Vladimir Putin of Russia enjoyed a peaceful and reasonably successful series of meetings in the Lough Erne Golf Resort on the outskirts of Enniskillen. I have spent the last week here and the weather has been mostly good and the sun shone for the past two days. The dignitaries have gone but we still have our beautiful little part of the world intact and we are moving forward along the road to peace and unity. The security around this event was the greatest ever seen in this country and the only crime reported to the local police in Enniskillen was the stealing of my wallet earlier today. Maybe whoever stole it needed it more than I do. I am trying to apply the Buddhist philosophy. The above image was taken this afternoon just outside the village of Brookeborough where I am staying with my sister.
