Artist's Description

The War Memorial in my home town of Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, scene of one of the worst atrocities of the troubles in N Ireland when twelve people were killed and many more were seriously injured by an IRA bomb which exploded on Remembrance Sunday in 1987. Thankfully we have moved on to a much more peaceful time and we now await the world leaders, including President Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin of Russia to attend the G8 summit which is being held at the Lough Erne Golf Resort just outside the town. Who would have though it! There is much excitement and this little province of one and a half million people has never seen greater security.
So far we have three protesters, two locals in swimming trunks and a Buddhist monk. The mad Irish woman will get nowhere near the main event to take a picture of the lovely Barack Obama but maybe that is a good thing. N Ireland is on the world stage again for all the right reasons. I took this image yesterday afternoon when the skies were blue and cloudless.
