pity me not part 2

my valentine
i whine
in the thickets
i flail
and edna st vincent millay
can’t save me
i die
and listening to the winds assault
i quiet myself
shut down in
the storm
the torments that come
i am out and yet
left out on purpose
and yet
free of the trappings
and yet
free of all things

nothing to bind me to it-
break off my breath
retire my longing
i sail away and on the shores
of manhattan
i’m sure someone looks out
and sees me asleep
on the water.

pity me not part 2
