In January the evening doesn’t start until well after most shoppers have left the city area. The transport to move inhabitants around was ‘Trams’, a fixed rail system in the middle of the city roads. To protect travelers there are raised guide barrier alongside the waiting area in the middle of the road for the tram passengers. This makes it a ‘Safety Zone’ for passengers. This system is still in 2009 the basis of passenger protection. You have to cross to it from the safety of the footpath, when traffic light block the movement of traffic between the footpath and the safety zone. The original slide image had an area of ‘reticulation’ in it which has been only partly removed by digital correction, so in a large image it does not appear so good.
