Artist's Description

Within a few miles of one another there were two strong centres in this valley. We had not realised the other was so close while we were at Beynac, but on the drive across the river valley to the other castle we looked back and saw Beynac again. Beynac had been Richard the Lionhearts, and was used to raid French territory. It was destroyed by Montfort and rebuilt by the French for use during the 100 years war. It is still impressive.
