My name is Evvie Marin. I’m an author/illustrator from Massachusetts, where the coffee is strong, the critters are resilient, and most spots are a tad spooky, if not downright haunted.

I have a B.A. in technical theatre and studio painting from Smith College. Though New England is my fave, I’ve a soft spot for the West Coast, and spent a chunk of my 20’s in Portland, OR and Los Angeles.

My analog heart beats for the watery crafts: watercolor, brushed ink, and gouache. I start my works on paper for that spontaneous, textured, handcrafted feel, then polish them up with digital media.

My aesthetic is witch + lumberjack: spooky, woodland, and whimsical. Think Edward Gorey meets Ranger Rick. I take inspiration from folklore, natural history, and subconscious fantasy. I love oddities, marginalia, and occult symbolism.

My favorite artists and illustrators include Carson Ellis, Edward Gorey, Maurice Sendak, Andrew Wyeth, Corina Dross, Patrick Dougherty, Arthur Rackham, James Audubon, Noelle Longhaul, John Frame, Camille Chew, and Adrienne Rozzi. A bunch of these folks are living, so check them out and give them your love.

70’s-90’s Dark fantasy movies are another massive influence. (Henson/Froud, The Secret of NIMH, The Last Unicorn, etc.)

I’m non-binary (they/them/she/her). Cancer Sun and Moon, Leo rising. Ravenclaw.

If I’m not arting, I’m probably entertaining the cat and my awesome-possum niece, cooking tasty vegan treats, playing ukulele, or wandering ’round the woods.
