Part 1

I have always been one of those people who say that monsters and aliens and all the other stuff isn’t real and its all just stories to make kids behave them selves. But that all changed the day I died; and that day was one year ago, now I’m here living my life and after almost dying again I have gone into hiding.

Chapter 1: New Home

The wind blew at my long open coat as I tried to unlock my door, it was always windy around here and it was always stormy and wet. That was one of the reasons I moved here; Layfield was a very small quiet town far from the big cities and high tech civilisation and I was starting to like it but I did miss the city. Once I was inside I shut and locked my door, as I walked towards my kitchen I draped my coat over the back of my couch as I passed. My new home was something that people would believe a single woman would have, it was small and cosy with light cream walls, and it only had two bedrooms; the second one I used as a study. I had very modern furniture all around the house and it made it look a little fancier than the rest of the homes of the town folk. I sighed as I sank into the arm chair with my hot mug of tea, the quiet was nice I had to admit, even though it wasn’t completely silent; I could hear the wind whip against the side of my house, I could hear the water dripping in the sink from my kitchen, I could hear the owl scuttling around in his tree, I could hear the occasional car going down the road. There was only one problem, could you find it? The owls tree was outside down the end of my driveway in the roaring wind, the kitchen was separated from the lounge by a wall and thick wooden door, the road was separated by a collection of big oak trees and a long driveway that led to my house. The problem was that my house was hidden in a small collection of trees and the owl was too far away for normal people to hear him. I am different; all of my senses are stronger than humans. I am what I guess you could call a vampire, but without the classic drawbacks.
