Artist Statement
I paint many kinds of subjects from life, it is the thrill of getting out in nature each day to paint some thing that interests me. Finding that item of interest is just as important to me as painting it. The process of putting paint on the canvas, the smells and the sounds all contribute equally towards creating a painting. Its painterly realism which I try to achieve in each picture. It’s only this way that a viewer can participate in seeing what I want to say to those who view my work. If I paint every little detail instead of sugjesting the detail, than the viewer will not have put into the picture what he or she thinks is there.

In an age when all manner of visual medias are easily produced and propagated, a well-crafted orignal painting has so much more beauty than all the commercially pictured items in the world.

I spend considerable time focusing on the many technical aspects of a painting. But ultimately there is a vision, a reason why I wanted to paint something in the first place; and it is my hope to remain true to that vision with each painting, and to convey it to you my vision as clearly and as beautifully as I can.

Biography:
I have not attended the prestigious art schools, I have attended the school of hard knocks and dropped out. I found it much easier to study the written word of other well known artist and to attend their workshops when offered, putting into practice what they had to say in the quiet of my studio. I might add many famous painters of the past have followed a simuler path. Edgar Payne and Vincent Van Gogh come to mind.
