my tree trunk
enough to make me feel bruised
when standing straight
I feel like gathering
clouds and placing them
where it hurts -
a patch of sky
to sew into my cracking branches
and hold them in place
tie my spine together
don’t let my pieces of bone
into an abyss
I don’t want to bend over in sadness
and have to try to catch my leaves
from the cruel wind
I want the warm balm of the sun
I want the gentle clouds
on my back
Drawing inspired by back pain and the minor scoliosis I have.
I wanted a soft yet bold portrait that focuses on the spine and how it’s similar to a tree trunk.
It’s a rather personal portrait.
