Artist's Description

I believe this is a Red Shouldered Hawk. It was leaving its nest and I got lucky to catch the focus though all the tree branches. Its not tack sharp but its damn close. Now that I have joined the bird of prey group I hope the will help me with the names of all my raptor shots.

raptor |ˈraptər|
noun
a bird of prey, e.g., an eagle, hawk, falcon, or owl.
• informal a dromaeosaurid dinosaur, esp. velociraptor or utahraptor. [ORIGIN: from velociraptor , a shortened form used originally by paleontologists, popularized by the film Jurassic Park (1993).]
ORIGIN late Middle English : from Latin, literally ‘plunderer,’ from rapt- ‘seized,’ from the verb rapere.
