Artist's Description

A member of the mustard family and also known as Jointed Charlock or white Charlock. A 1 to 3 ft. herb, freely branched with erect stems and numerous flowers. The flowers are composed of 4, 1/2" petals and 4 sepals that are typically yellow or white. Blooms March – June (it’s February still today). It grows on roadsides, fields and other disturbed sites, often seen in cultivated fields that have been left for the winter and before the spring planting. Introduced from Mediterranean Europe, now widely distributed across the United States.
