when phones ruled the world

He sat on the front steps of the derelict pub. Hunched over his pride and joy. A shiny new phone. Buttons that weren’t actually buttons and electronic gadgetry of all varieties amazed him. Glee shone heartily on his face. The rhythmic click, click, click(even if he noises were synthesized). A whir of fingers on sleek plastic. He trolled the screens searching for entertainment. He found endless depths of useless trivia and even more ludicrous applications, none of which seemed to have any reason for existing other than to distract from life. Sharply focused and unblinking, this was his heaven and nothing else mattered to him anymore. The world was dead to him now.
