How To Design An Excellent iPhone Case

Designing and uploading your iPhone case is a fairly straightforward process but we’ve whipped up a quick list of considerations so you can ensure your designs look tip top. The first thing you’ll need to do is download the template. Don’t forget to delete the guidance layer once you’ve read all the important information on it.

There’s no hard and fast rules about the orientation of your design but keep in mind that the iPhone case previews on RedBubble are portrait. And when someone’s actually using the iPhone for telecommunications (how old fashioned) they’ll tend to hold their iPhone in this manner. So unless your design calls for something out of the ordinary, we’d suggest using portrait orientation when positioning your design.

Our template is designed to be adaptable to future tweaks and changes to the iPhone’s design. So unless Apple bring out an iPhone that is triangular, or the size of a small house brick, you shouldn’t need to rework your designs each time a new iPhone is released.

When placing your artwork on the template it’s important you fill the whole area with your design – right to the edges. This will ensure there’s enough design to wrap around the edges of the case and to take into consideration any future design changes or updates to the iPhone.

For this same reason, we’d advise against using borders, shading or elements that are designed to sit right on the edge of the front of the case. All it takes is a new iPhone design that differs in size by 2mm and those elements may not appear the way you intended.

The following is a key to all the marvellous things you can do from the new upload page.
