Billyboy’s comment:
“I spent a LONG time searching through my favs… I’m pretty choosey about what I put in there so the choice was always gonna be a tough one. Thing is, I am just amazed by lightning. It has fascinated me since I can remember, standing outside in the rain during a T-storm (yeah, I know better now!) just to catch the flashes and to smell the ozone when a big one hit close by. And now being on an art site like RB and others, I’ve come across some awesome takes by people who really make it their life’s aim to capture the best of natures fireworks. But when I stumbled upon Ern’s take on this storm over Darwin, I was mesmerized. Here it’s not about the flash. The flash is beautifully understated… but it’s about the impact the strike has on the vast expanse surrounding it. From the beautifully lit cloud formations, right down to the apparent vulnerability and insignificance of the man made ship reflecting the sun from the opposite direction.

This is a masterpiece for which I am awestruck over the fact that it didn’t get as many comments as it deserved. Maybe showcasing it here will bring it to the attention of lots of others who will see its beauty as I have. Ern, thanks for blowing me away bigtime with your art!”

Thank you Bill.
