Artist's Description

Inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson tale ‘The Wild Swans’

Although the girl in the story does not become a swan, (all her 11 brothers do) she continues to watch over her swan brothers, taking a vow of silence and stitching magic shirts for them.
In a sense her silence becomes her cage as the swan body en cages the brothers. She must carry this devotion and love in silence, she must bide the time until the spell can be broken.
So I guess this is a symbolic version of the girl Elisa.

From the series of swan girls I sketch.
