Ocean Walk

At the ocean
In the dark of night
Crashing waves
Starry light

Foaming sand beneath your feet
Tangles of seaweed and seabirds fleet

Fully lit moon
Not a cloud in the sky
Countless constellations
My soul and I

Pit-pat sounds on the ever changing beach
Scouring the waves for hazards within reach

Smells of salt
Winds of sea
Crashing waves
My mind and me

Sharpening pain as you step on a shell
Pick it up, pocket it, bid the ocean farewell.

Horn of a tanker
Lighs of a schooner
Back to the hotel
Not sooner, not sooner.
