Artist's Description

Canon S5
This is Strider. My son named him that because he loves Lord of the Rings and he felt our little rescued kitten was a survivor, like the character in the story.

We found him at the local shelter when he was about 10 weeks old. They told us the whole litter was feral. He had siblings in the cage with him and they all looked weak and sickly. But when we went near the cage, Strider made quite a racket. (We soon figured out that he was very vocal in his demands – especially for food!)

He is the funniest cat I’ve ever known – and I’ve known quite a few. Garbage should be his middle name! If we leave a scrap of food out anywhere, he will get it. He doesn’t discriminate – pasta, pizza, curry, chili, green beans, chips… the list is endless! Maybe he’s a cousin of Garfield’s?

There also seems to be a bit of canine in Strider’s makeup. He follows me around the house, constantly tries to nuzzle up to my face – and drools in the process! Have you ever met a cat that drools? This is a first for me!! Strider likes to sleep curled up by the front door (a watch-cat?), and he buries his toys under the carpet. His favorite toy is a plastic ring off the lid of a plastic jug.

And he’s still the most vocal cat ever. Look out if you try to take his food – he’ll give you the worst tongue-lashing you’ve ever had!
