Temptation

Temptation
Is dancing a jig
On bandy legs
Before my startled eyes
Like an incorrigible leprechaun
Bewitching and beguiling me
With his Blarney Castle banter.
One shove with the shillelagh
And I’d be gone
Begorrah,
Into the abyss.

I resist,
But can’t help wondering
If I hadn’t,
Would I have plummeted,
Wailing like a banshee,
Or soared on Enyan wings
To distant, shepherd moons?

Artist's Description

Written while mulling over a tempting situation. A fun foray into the Irish language and culture. I really enjoyed creating this poem and hope you like it too.
