Artist's Description

An Eastern Brown Snake (Pseudonaja textilis) emerges from its burrow to bask in the warmth of a sunny spring afternoon. Regularly considered in the top ten most dangerous snakes in the world, this guy gave me a scare, because I had watched it go into its burrow and so I propped and waited for it to emerge. After quite a wait, movement behind me caught my attention and there it was, sunning itself, having apparently come out of a different entrance! Mt Ainslie, Australian Capital Territory, Australia.
