With every photograph, I ask myself what is the intention of this image. And I ask what is it’s source; in other words, what is it about this particular juxtaposition of light and shadow, arrangement of acute angles and floating curves that make me want to freeze it in time. Why do I, with all of the frailties of my humanness, want to play God?

My exploration of the nude figure seeks to find a certain truth, a beauty that exceeds the nakedness. My portraits do the same thing. The former is something from the gut, from inside out; the latter is an exploration of the eye, whether open or closed, as a portal to the soul of the subject.

My editorial and performance images fall somewhere between the two. Certainly they are fact, but they are also an examination of a fragment of time, a single fiber in the cloth of human history. And so, they document our existence and the power of that moment.
