My gorgeous girl Rosie. Rescued from cage hell, she now has a forever home with me where she is free to stretch her wings, scratch in the dirt for worms and other tasty treats, have sandbaths and laze in the sun. Layers are slaughtered at around 18 months of age because they stop laying and are usually sold to the pet food industry. What a thought. Hens are intelligent and make awesome pets.

Thank you for rescuing Rosie and giving her a chance to enjoy life. It is so heart breaking the way animals are treated in the food industry. My son has become a vegetarian and is raising his son to be one also. This is a beautiful portrait and beautifully layered.
Delightful image, beautifully crafted, together with a great story. Well done. Alma
