One of the less popular lakes because it is off the usual routes to the lake district this stunning location is one of the most peaceful and beautiful areas for walkers.Haweswater is actually reservoir as opposed to a natural lake.A dam was built is 1929 to supply water to Manchester and the north west of England. The area known as Mardale was populated by the farming villages and these villages were flooded and lost. The reservoir is 4 miles long and 1/2 mile wide, and has a maximum depth of 200 feet.
