The crying angel in despair,
The darkness under her
Is almost swallowing her up.
Caught up in circumstances
Fate unleashed on her.

She tries to run away from it
But her sorrows and despair holds her bound.
As she hovers round without help,
Hapless and hopeless
With emptiness all round her.

She sees the moon and the stars,
All symbols of hope,
But far they are out of her reach.
Fear becomes her daily companion
As courage fails once more.

What creature that is
So callous and cruel wrought this carnage
And brought sorrow to all
That sees the tears
That no ocean surge rivals?

Tears does not fear faces
For they would have spared her angelic face
And leave the smiles forever.
But smeared face is the aftermath
Of the sorrow and pain.

Let the pains and sorrow go
Let the despair and hopelessness go
Let the fear and pessimism go,
Then will the heart smile again
And the sun will shine again.

For the gloomy face
Has banished the sunshine and the moon.
The gritting teeth
Has placed a withholding hand on the rain
And drought has paid an unwelcome visit to all.

Free the soul and body
From the pain of the past
And face the future squarely and boldly.
Then can I smile again
For you have stolen my smile and peace of mind.

If tomorrow never comes
Then live for today
And not for the past,
For the past is yesterday
And today is waiting for you.

Let the memories go
That cast dark emptiness on us all.
Let us usher in a new dawn
That we may pave the way
For a lasting harmony.

Let smile be our guiding light
Let the light overshadow the darkness
Let today banish yesterday
And let the memories fade
To yesterday of no return.

The heart yearns to open
A new chapter,
But must banish the chains of bondage
And move towards the moon and stars
For a better today and tomorrow.

Smile Mother Africa
For the gloom to pass away.
Open up your arms and usher in the new dawn.
Let the gory past be banished
For thirsty are your descendants of the new dawn.

We all must have past events
For us to have histories.
But dwell on the past, we must not
Lest, redundant we become.
Let go of the past and let the happy tomorrow come.
