A Moment

It only takes a moment to change somebody’s life
To strip their soul to nothing, and leave them filled with strife
They come to me abandoned, afraid and so unsure
Can I somehow restore them to the person that they were?
I test the waters gently, but let them know that I am here
Their heart I see is bleeding, their eyes are filled with fear
Inside they are screaming, yet they keep a gaze of stone
For someone has just thrown them in a world that’s not their own
After several moments, the grief upon their face
Slowly starts to dissipate, and with it is replaced
A glimpse of something wonderful, a hint of hope appears
The sadness is subsiding, and dried up are their tears
It only takes a moment, change somebody’s life
Someone may have hurt you, but I can help to make it right.
