Bowed Out

This is the day of change
I’m stepping out of normal range
Burst asunder these chains
His blood soothes my pains

Renewing history as we speak
What was done, now getting bleak
As I call on His mighty name
Father reforms my broken frame

No one recognizes me
“What’s gotten into you,” they plea
“It’s not me you see,” I shout
“Jesus came in when I humbly bowed out”

Artist's Description

In April of 2005, I wrote this poem after another one of my self-examinations. I was tired of my life going around in circles; like a merry-go-round, I gave the illusion that I was going places but noticed I was passing the same places again and again. After asking God to point out the problem, I was determined to break free of it in Christ.
