INTRODUCING The Lunar Queen
I love doing the Queen cards because it always puts me in touch with my feelings and thoughts about what it is to be a woman. The associations that the moon has with womanhood have made this one of my favorite cards.

THE LAYERS
Layer One – The background layer is a sketch of the moon with seven phases along its right curve.

Layer Two – The next layer was a sketch of a pregnant woman holding her belly. I love the way her hand along the upper curve of her belly turned out in the finished painting.

Layer Three – Layer three is the Queen of Diamonds where I replaced the head of the Queen in the bottom half of the painting with another moon.

Layer Four – The final layer is the Star card from the Tarot where a naked woman is kneeling at the edge of a pool and pours water in to the pond with one hand and into the earth around her with the hand.

For me, this painting speaks to the cycle of womanhood and the need remember to nourish oneself while we pour out our lives for our children and the people we love.
